What Capslock-CopyPaste does

Caps Lock sits in the best spot on your keyboard and you hardly ever use it. Capslock-CopyPaste turns it into the key you use all day: copy and paste.

Caps Lock tap once
Copies what you selected
Caps Lock tap twice quickly
Pastes
Ctrl + Caps Lock tap twice
Pastes as plain text, without the fonts, colours and links. Handy when copying from a website into Word or an email.
Shift + Caps Lock
Turns normal CAPITALS on or off, for the rare times you need them

It works with text, pictures and files: anything you can copy and paste. A small note pops up next to your mouse so you know it worked, like Copied! or Pasted!

If nothing was selected, it says Nothing copied! and keeps what you copied before, so you never lose your clipboard by accident.

Set it up in a minute

  1. Download it

Click the download button. You get one small file, Capslock-CopyPaste.exe. There is nothing to install.

  2. Double-click the file

Windows asks whether the app may make changes. Click Yes. This lets it work in every app, including Task Manager.

See “Windows protected your PC”? Click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for small apps from independent makers. It doesn’t mean something is wrong.

  3. Tap Caps Lock

A small up-arrow icon appears next to the clock: it’s running. Select some text, tap Caps Lock to copy, then tap it twice to paste.

To have it start every time you turn on your PC, right-click the icon and tick Start with Windows.

Can’t see the icon? Click the small up arrow next to the clock.

If something seems off

Tapping twice copies instead of pasting
Tap a little faster. The two taps need to come close together.
Nothing happens
Check the up-arrow icon is next to the clock and not faded. A faded icon means it’s paused.
It doesn’t work in Task Manager
Open it again and click Yes when Windows asks, or tick Start with Windows.

Removing it

  1. Right-click the up-arrow icon and untick Start with Windows.
  2. Right-click the icon again and click Exit.
  3. Delete Capslock-CopyPaste.exe.
