What yt-mini-PIP does
Watching a video and need to check something in another tab? The video follows you. It floats in a small window in the corner, so you can keep watching while you do something else.
- You switch to another tabThe video: Pops out
- You switch to another appThe video: Pops out
- You come back to YouTubeThe video: Goes back in
It only pops out a video that is playing. A paused video stays where it is. There are no settings and no buttons: add it and it just works.
Add it to Chrome in two minutes
It isn’t in the Chrome Web Store yet, so you add it yourself. It only takes a few clicks.
-
Download it
Click the download button. You get one file, yt-mini-pip-v1.1.zip.
-
Unzip it
Right-click the file, choose Extract All, then Extract. You get a folder called yt-mini-pip-v1.1.
Keep this folder. Move it somewhere it can stay, like your Documents folder. Chrome uses it every time it opens, so deleting it removes yt-mini-PIP.
-
Open Chrome’s extensions page
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter. Switch on Developer mode at the top right.
Developer mode only lets you add extensions from a folder on your computer. Nothing else changes.
-
Add yt-mini-PIP
Click Load unpacked and choose the yt-mini-pip-v1.1 folder. yt-mini-PIP appears in the list, switched on and ready.
Using Edge or Brave? It works there too: type edge://extensions or brave://extensions instead. In Edge, Developer mode is in the menu on the left.
Want more?
ytModify does the same pop-out, and adds a soft glow around the video, the video quality you want and a bigger player. Use one or the other, not both.
